Education for a Common Purpose
Welcome to the Workshop 2017 website, where you will find the information you need to make the most of your training experience.
The theme for Workshop 2017, “Education for a Common Purpose,” reflects the evolution of public education and its impact on our country. Since our nation’s earliest days, education has been a cornerstone of our democracy. Our founding fathers understood that a well-educated citizenry was necessary to the success of the new republic.
Today, these values endure in New Jersey’s public schools. Our state’s school board members and administrators establish policy and implement programs that advance teaching and learning, thereby enabling our students to reach their full academic potential.
Workshop plays a vital role in fulfilling this goal through professional development of local school board members, superintendents and school business administrators, as well as curriculum directors, technology professionals and school facility managers.
This year, Workshop will offer even more training activities as it expands to a four-day conference—Monday, Oct. 23 through Thursday, Oct. 26. Plans are underway for new programs designed for school board leaders and new board members, as well as additional sessions on a wide range of critical topics. In all, this year’s conference will offer more than 250 learning opportunities. Many provide credit toward Qualified Purchasing Agent certification for school business administrators, the Certified Educational Facilities Managers designation, Sustainable Jersey for Schools Certification, as well as certification through the NJSBA Board Member Academy.
The Workshop 2017 Exhibit Floor, designed to help school leaders make sound decisions on products, services and technology for their education programs, will operate for two days: Tuesday, Oct. 24 and Wednesday, Oct. 25.
You play an important part in the future of our state and nation by providing the leadership to enable our students to become productive, responsible citizens and our country to prosper. Workshop 2017 is here to provide you with the training and resources you need to be a successful school leader.
I look forward to seeing you at Workshop 2017.
